Region & industrial environment
Wetter sits on the south-eastern edge of the Ruhr area, between Witten and Hagen — both around seven kilometres away. Few places in Europe hold as many production plants within such a short reach: power stations in Herdecke (5 km) and Hagen, steel and rolling mills in Witten and Hagen-Hohenlimburg (14 km), pulp and paper mills in Hagen, plant and pipework construction in Schwerte (18 km), chemical plants around Herne (20 km) and refinery and steel sites in the Bochum area (15 km). To the west follows the dense chemical and power-generation belt of the Ruhr region, to the south the Rhineland.
For on-site work that density is the decisive advantage: plants whose shutdowns are planned in hours are usually within an hour’s drive — often reached on the day the call comes in. Wetter is the group’s German company and therefore the first point of contact for plants in Germany, with everything from enquiry to documentation handled in German.
